Instructions & usage

World Water Day is observed on 22 March and focuses on freshwater. Activities can help children notice where water is used and discuss careful use.

What is included?

Choose individual files from this free pack. A4 and US Letter versions are provided; puzzle answer sheets are separate. Open the preview to check each file before printing at actual size.

At home

Notice everyday water uses, such as drinking and washing. Discuss turning off a running tap when it is not needed.

In the classroom

Explain that World Water Day focuses on freshwater. Trace your school’s supply using local water-authority information; do not assume every household has the same access.

Reflection prompts

  • Draw three places where your family or school uses water.
  • Choose one practical way to avoid wasting clean water.
  • Write a question about where your drinking water comes from.

Use a pencil for puzzles and choose colouring materials for the illustration. Read the instructions together first. Younger children may need a reader; suggested ages are guidance, not a requirement. The drawing prompts have many valid responses and do not need an answer key.
