Instructions & usage
Ready for a little arithmetic in orbit? Follow the track and tackle the mission squares.
Space Mission Race is a shared-sheet game for two players. First on or beyond 24 wins. Ordinary spaces have no task.
Players: 2 · Time: about 15 minutes · Equipment: Pencils and one die.
How to play
- Share the track. Log each player’s position; both start at 0.
- Roll one die and move forward. At a MOON space, solve its sum.
- Correct? Move 2 extra. Incorrect? Stay there. No chained mission bonuses.
- Other player checks with the printed check strip (fold it under before play).
- First on or beyond 24 wins. Ordinary spaces have no task.
Example of a turn
From 3, roll 2: moon 5 asks 3+4. Say 7 to advance to 7.
Scoring and finishing

At home and in the classroom
Print one sheet per pair and agree who starts before playing. Read the example aloud, then let the pair check the printed rules when needed. Use the number choices to practise explaining a calculation, rather than rewarding speed alone.
Try a variation
Play cooperatively: both astronauts finish within 12 shared turns.
