Instructions & usage
Learn about France with a printable country page inspired by our Italy colouring sheet. The page combines an illustrated border, a welcoming character in traditional clothing, a large outlined country name, a simplified map, a flag to colour and an original illustration of Eiffel Tower.
What is included?
Choose A4 with UK/Australian colour spelling or US Letter with color spelling. Both files are one-page black-and-white PDFs with actual previews. The flag guide is printed beside the flag. A dot on the map marks Paris, the capital city. Maps are generalized and small islands may be omitted; they are not navigation maps. The France outline shows metropolitan France, not its overseas territories.
Traditional clothing
The character wears a simplified example: Alsatian regional dress. This is one festive or regional clothing tradition, not everyday clothing for everyone in the country. Styles vary by place and occasion.
At home
Read the country name aloud and find it together in an atlas. Compare the outline with neighbouring countries before returning to the colouring page. Use the printed guide to colour the flag, then let your child choose colours for the landmark. Ask which shapes or details helped them recognise it.
In the classroom or OSHC
Use this page as an introduction to France. Invite children to find Paris on a classroom map and locate the matching dot on their sheet. Look at a real photograph of Eiffel Tower and discuss what the simplified drawing includes. Children can label their finished page or write one question they would like to investigate.
Compare and explore
Pair this sheet with another country page. Compare flag shapes, stripes or crosses and look for differences in country outlines. A single landmark is one starting point for learning about a place, not a picture of everyone who lives there. Use books, maps and photographs to explore more landscapes and everyday places.
Printing
Choose the paper size before downloading and print at actual size. Keep the page within your printer margins. Suggested ages 5–10 are guidance; younger children may need help reading labels. No answer key is required for colouring; the flag guide and city label are provided on the sheet.
